Conference Awards



To reward young scientists who show great promise in the field of functional foods, and with the hope of continuous commitment and inspiration to others for the growth of science and technology research globally.


  1. The award committee will consider scientific contribution in the form of oral presentation presented in one of the sessions during the course of the conference.
  2. Each presenter will be allocated 8 minutes to present and 2 minutes for Q&A.
  3. Three overall best scientific contributions will be selected by a committee of academic and industrial representatives.
  4. Please refer to ‘Guideline for Oral Presentation’ for other instructions.

Award Criteria

  1. Scientific excellence and innovative approach of the presented work.
  2. Thematic relevance for issues/solutions applicable to functional food.
  3. Candidate is below 35 years old and must be engaged in pursuing research at Doctoral or Master degree.
  4. The candidate must attend the award ceremony
  5. The candidate must be the first author on the presentation and must be the person directly responsible for the majority of work presented on the abstract
  6. The candidate must register for the conference and pay the required fees by 15th May 2017. Follow the instructions and payment procedures at the IFFC Conference website:

Selection and Nomination Procedure

  1. Prior to the conference, a scientific committee will evaluate the scientific content of the submitted abstract.
  2. Applications to the IFFC Young Scientist Awards must contain:
    1. Abstract representing the scientific work (300 words)
    2. An extended summary of the work and a statement highlighting the significance of the work (1000 words)
    3. Curriculum vitae (maximum 2 pages)
    4. Please submit your application to: by 15th May 2017.


First Prize : USD 200 and a certificate
Second Prize : USD 150 and a certificate
Third Prize : USD 100 and a certificate


  1. This competition is ONLY opened to students selected for poster presentation.
  2. Three overall best posters shall be awarded cash prizes (RM 200 each) and certificates.
  3. A panel of judges shall be elected to select the winning posters.
