I joined ADP because of its flexibility. Once you enter as a freshman, you are allowed to take a variety of subjects to see where your potentials lie. You can take an array of different subjects ranging from arts to business subjects to the sciences and also social science subjects, before making a choice. At first I found the workload to be quite a lot but soon I was able to juggle things and manage my time. The lecturers were really helpful and really one of a kind as they made sure the students progressed academically. Overall I would say my experience in ADP was a memorable and enlightening one, and taught me to be a more independent and a wise individual.

Classes in ADP are interesting, creative and interactive. It is different from the usual classroom environment where teachers give information and we students just accept it without questioning. Here, we are encouraged to ask questions in class. On top of that, it’s never a dull moment in the ADP classes because we have a lot of fun activities such as role play and Powerpoint presentations for most of our subjects including the sciences such as Biology. This program enhances us to become more aware of the importance of soft skills and not rely on individual strength but rather the team’s strength: To work hand in hand with others rather than to do everything on our own.

"In the Fall of 2007, I fulfilled my childhood dream of studying in the United States. My first semester here has been an eventful one. The transitions I had to make were aplenty. The hundreds of classes to choose from, increased competition and embracing life in a different culture were some of the adjustments I had to make as I set foot in the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.
The classes are fast-paced but very stimulating as you become exposed to varying ideas from individuals with different backgrounds. As everyone here is in pursuit of their dreams, increased competition is bound to happen. I definitely felt the pressure when studying but competition can only be good as it makes you a better student.
Moreover, having to take care of myself has made me a better individual as a whole. Above all, the toughest and most exciting obstacle was adapting to living in a whole new different culture. There's a stark difference between watching Western (USA) culture on television than actually living in it. In reality, being in a multi-cultural campus exposes you to cultures from all over the world. As I teach my friends about my culture, I learn about theirs too.
Lastly, the two things that Michigan is famous for - football and the weather. It's college football country here. The Michigan Wolverines is one of the big powerhouses in college football. When I say football, I don't mean the kind you kick and is round. I've definitely developed pride and passion for the Wolverines. Game days on Saturdays are something I look forward to every week during the football season. And of course, we get snow, and lots of it too. Getting around wasn't as tough as I thought it'd be as they clear the sidewalks often every time snow falls. Experiencing a few snowstorms myself was definitely interesting! I can only do so much as to share my experiences with you, but take my word for it, it's not going to do the whole "college experience" justice. You just have to see it for yourself!"

"There's never been a better time than now for me to use the word liberation. The freedom they have here when well practiced is a commodity that allows us to spread our wings and discover everything about reaching our ultimate goals. It can be our careers, it could be having fun, it could be getting new hobbies, whatever it may be, being here in the states particularly here in Southern California for an artsy person like me, gives me so much freedom to express myself and find creativity like never before.
As a film major, here at Chapman University has given me the opportunity to use powerful equipments and get hands-on experience working on film sets. Also, it has helped me discover many talents that I could use to different aspects of film instead of getting stuck to only one area. Networking here is extraordinary as it is the essence of the industry. They say it's a small town in Tinseltown and that is true. Knowing people has helped me get connected with sometimes
A-listers that I never thought I would get in touch with.
How has ADP helped me? The Faculty (and that includes the hard working administrators). ADP has helped shaped me to adapt myself to the American style education that Malaysian don't have the chance to get. ADP has helped me develop a better personality that will steer to me a greater future I know I can achieve. The clubs and societies are part of the experience as well as they have trained me to be a better leader and team player. Theater, economics, communications, advertising, PR, history, business, sciences, Student Council, Grapevine, Flipside, Be_ADP, Miraz, you name it... the experience as a whole has been great!"
Note: At the point of writing this, Dennis is currently working on a feature film script and entering a contest organized by a film company in California with his producer. If his piece gets selected to be one of the 5 finalists (group), they would be given USD$1mil to direct and produce their first feature film theatrically worldwide. Dennis is also concurrently planning to shoot a short film to just show what he can do, and plans to submit it to international student film festival, the student's academy award (Students Oscar Award by the Academy), and possibly Sundance and Cannes Film Festival. Isn't this great?

My time at ADP has been invaluable. The program allowed me to be independent and take control of my education in a way I’d never known before. All the experiences I’ve had at ADP, whether it’s being the editor of Flipside or starting a culture club with my friends, have shown me that being active and voicing out your opinions enhances the person that you are. In time, the counselors, lecturers and students became family to me, and with their support and encouragement, it has led to my success here at Syracuse University.”

“A turning point in my life, that's what ADP was to me. ADP gave me the direction I needed in life, which no other program did. To me, the American education is the best system which fully develops one's potential not only in education but also in the outside world and ADP accomplished that for me. The courses offered met up to my needs and goals and with the help of such dedicated lecturers, I am now in one of the top 5 engineering schools in America. Thank you ADP!”
