Important Travel Documents

Passport
Your passport must be kept valid for the duration of your stay and for travel purposes. Maintaining a valid passport is your responsibility. Your respective home country consulates or embassy in Malaysia can assist with your passport renewals. The International Office can provide you letters certifying your enrolment should you need it to assist in revalidating your passport.

Student Pass and Visa Approval Letter
The Student Pass and Visa is endorsed onto your passport by the Malaysian Immigration Department. The endorsement indicates your visa type, the length of stay in Malaysia, the number of entries permitted into Malaysia and the validity of the Student Pass and Visa (which is normally for one year). The Malaysian Immigration regulations require all international students to enrol as a full-time student throughout their stay in Malaysia.

Original Copy of School Transcripts and Certificates
You have to bring along your original school transcripts and certificates for confirmation of authenticity of the documents submitted during your application.

Policies and Regulations for International Students
You must read, acknowledge and return the copy of the Policies and Regulations for International Students to us upon reporting to Taylor's. The policy lists all terms and conditions for all international students while studying at Taylor's.

Medical Health Report and Form
The Malaysian Ministry of Higher Education requires all international students to undergo a set of medical health examination in their home country before applying to the College.

General Guidelines:
  1. All International Students (except Diplomatic Pass holders and Malaysian Permanent Residents (P.R.) applicants) are required to have a Student Pass while studying at Taylor's.
  2. A Malaysian Student Pass will be applied for you on your behalf. You must hold a valid Student Pass for the entire duration of your stay at Taylor's.
  3. Once Taylor's has submitted an application for a Student Pass, you are not allowed to submit a similar application through another college or institution. This will create confusion within the Malaysian Immigration Department and may result in delay in your Student Pass application process.
  4. Student Pass approvals usually take between 6 to 8 weeks. Taylor's may not be able to obtain a Student Pass for you on time if your application to Taylor's is received less than 6 weeks from the programme intake dates.
  5. Once the Student Pass is approved, a Visa Approval Letter will be couriered to you.
  6. Kindly check with the Malaysian High Commission in your home country whether you need a visa to enter Malaysia when you receive the Approval Letter, before you purchase the air-ticket.
  7. If you do, proceed to the nearest local Malaysian diplomatic mission (i.e., Malaysian High Commission Consulate), show them the Approval Letter to obtain your single-entry visa.
  8. All levies charged by the Malaysian Immigration Department are to be borne by you. All payments to the said department are to be made in cash at the Payment Counter upon reporting to Taylor's, to facilitate the endorsements of the Student Pass onto the passport. A receipt will be issued for this payment.
  9. It is mandatory that Student Pass be applied and renewed through Taylor's. Not doing so will be a violation of the Malaysian Immigration Department's regulations. While we will assist in your Student Pass application, Taylor's cannot be held liable for any change in policies by the Malaysian Immigration Department in regards to issuance of Student Pass.
    .
Medical Check-Up
  1. You will need to undergo a medical check-up before applying to the College.
  2. Students coming from Yellow Fever Endemic Zones such as Africa and South America in particular, are reminded to ensure that they are vaccinated before entering Malaysia. A Yellow Fever Vaccination Certificate, valid only if the vaccine is approved by the World Health Organization (WHO) and administered at an approved Yellow Fever Vaccinating Centre is required from those who hail from these Zones.
  3. The Malaysian Ministry of Health will quarantine students from these Zones who come without a valid Yellow Fever Vaccination Certificate upon arrival for 2 weeks. The certificate is valid for ten (10) years, beginning 10 days after the date of vaccination.

Health Matters
International Student Insurance Scheme
Health care costs in Malaysia are relatively high compared to other countries in South East Asia. A sudden illness or accident requiring hospitalisation can quickly result in medical bills totalling thousands of Ringgit. It is compulsory for all international students to be covered by the International Student Insurance Scheme throughout the duration of their study at Taylor's. For new students, the first year's premium is paid upon application, together with the International Student Charge. This gives the student coverage from the time he or she arrives in Malaysia and begins classes at Taylor's. A Medical Card will be issued to you when you report to Taylor's. International students must maintain the plan throughout their stay.
  1. The Insurance is to cover any mishap or illness that may require hospitalisation and / or surgery.
  2. A Medical card that can be used at selected hospitals and medical centres will be issued to you via your International Office once it is available. A copy of the coverage of the insurance scheme will be made available for you when you collect your card.
  3. It is the responsibility of the students to ensure that their coverage is renewed before it expires annually.
  4. Should you be faced with a medical emergency (i.e. accident), it may be difficult to contact your parents or guardian immediately when urgent medical attention is required and authorisation is required before a doctor can proceed with particular procedures. As such, the college needs to be authorised by your parents or guardian to sign on their behalf should such a situation occur.
Hospital Admissions
Know the locations of emergency centres closest to you. Also ensure that you are aware of which hospital is your insurance policy's preferred provider and where it is located. Carry your Medical insurance card with you at all times. Should you need to be admitted to the hospital, the Medical Card will ensure you can be admitted without unnecessary delay. Please contact the International Officer and inform him / her of your admission into the hospital.
