- 1969 : Member of the National Goodwill Council
- 1971 : Royal Commissioner for the Reform of the Laws of Marriage and Divorce in Malaysia
- Member of the Legal Profession Qualifying Board established under the Legal Profession Act
- 1998 : Member of the Royal Commission of Inquiry into the Injuries sustained by Dato Seri Anwar Ibrahim whilst in police custody
- The founder president of the Medico-Legal Society of Malaysia
- President of the Astronomical Society of Malaysia
- Vice-President of Zoo Negara for many years
- 1999 – 2001: One of the founder members of the Human Rights Commission of Malaysia and was thereafter nominated as its representative as Jurist in the Asia Pacific Forum until 2006
- 2005 : A Paul Harris Fellow in Rotary International and Chairman of the Gandhi Memorial Trust
- An Honorary Fellow of the Malaysian Institute of Arbitrators
