Study Loans 
Taylor's University is one of the private universities listed under the National Higher Education Loan Fund, through which students in the Diploma and 3+0 Degree programmes can apply for loans. Study loans are also available from many financial institutions. Information on the loan criteria and quantum is available from our counsellors.

Postgraduate Apprenticeship

The Postgraduate Apprenticeship is a programme aimed at attracting postgraduate students to serve as teaching assistants in Taylor's. The ultimate goal is to groom young talents into outstanding full-time academicians. Selected students will undergo a pedagogical development programme organised by Centre for Teaching and Learning (CTL).

Tutorship Programme
Part of the Postgraduate Apprenticeship, the Tutorship Programme offers Taylor's postgraduate students an opportunity to gain teaching experience, earn a monthly stipend and enjoy tuition fee waiver. Tutors will have responsibilities that range from leading tutorial sessions to conducting mini-lectures to supervising undergraduate projects and more. Tutors' weekly contact hours should not exceed nine hours and they will receive a stipend ranging from RM1,300 – RM1,700 based on their level of qualification and experience. Tutors are awarded a tuition fee waiver ranging from RM3,900 to RM7,800 per year.

PhD Fellowship Programme
This fellowship provides recipients with a full tuition fee waiver and a monthly allowance to pursue their PhD studies. It also gives students academic and research training experience. There are two schemes under this fellowship:
  • Scheme 1 - Full tuition fee waiver and monthly stipend for three years
    The Scheme 1 PhD fellowship provides recipients full tuition fee waiver plus financial assistance for three years and academic and research training experience. They are contracted for a three-year period (subject to annual review) to undertake school duties averaging not more than eight hours per week. These duties can include teaching, tutoring, supervising final-year undergraduate students and/or laboratory class demonstration.

  • Scheme 2 - Full tuition fee waiver only for three years
    The Scheme 2 PhD fellowship provides recipients full tuition fee waiver for three years and academic and research training experience. They are contracted for a three-year period (subject to annual review) to undertake school duties averaging not more than five hours per week. These duties can include teaching, tutoring, supervising final-year undergraduate
Application Deadline
There are 2 application cycles for the Apprenticeship Programme and the closing dates are 15 January 2012 and 15 May 2012 respectively.

  2. Taylor's Industrial PhD Scholarship
    Taylor's Business School (TBS) and Taylor's School of Hospitality, Tourism & Culinary Arts (TCHT) are offering a scholarship especially for outstanding industrial leaders to undertake PhD studies at Taylor's University on a part-time basis. Candidates are required to have extensive industrial experience in an effort to add greater value and credibility to our spectrum of programmes. To fulfill the minimum criteria for the scholarship application, candidates must possess a Master's degree, hold a senior position in the industry and have a thesis project aligned with Taylor's University's strategic research plans.
  
External Financial Assistance
  1. Ministry of Higher EducationMyBrain15 Sponsorship Programme
    Awarding Body: Ministry of Higher Education. MyBrain15 was established to recruit and develop a pool of talented, high-caliber intellectuals in the country with the objective to spur the growth of research and innovation. Under the "MyBrain15" initiative, the Malaysian government has recently set a new goal to produce 60, 000 Malaysian PhD holders by the year 2020.

  2. Research Assistantship
    A Research Assistantship is offered by lecturers who have been awarded a research grant. A Research Assistant under their supervision will enjoy the opportunity to conduct investigative academic research closely with the faculty. The research conducted by the student will directly contribute to their research project. For further information, please contact the respective lecturer.
