One of the core tenets of the United Nations and in effect the Taylor's Model United Nations Club (TAYMUN) itself is the preservation of peace and conflict resolution. One of the mission our club has entrusted itself with is, if not preventing wars, is instilling awareness to drive home the point that wars don't determine who is right, they determine who is left. The Taylor's Model United Nations Club takes pride in knowing that it can make a change if not global or even nationwide, in the minds of youth whose time has come to speak up and take action.
The world has become a world where peace has crumbled only leaving the bare foundation left. A whole nation can be destroyed by the push of one button and one finger. All the people in an area as wide as Kuala Lumpur can just drop dead in what we call a 'biological attack'. Global peace is at its most dire condition like a leopard dog. TAYMUN plans to nurture that leopard dog so that one day it may walk proudly again. However, TAYMUN acknowledges that it has never been a problem that puts us in danger. The real danger comes when in the midst of a problem, people say "I can't see any problem".
Therefore, in this dire times, we call in Tun Dr Mahathir Mohammad. Tun is most probably the man to call when we mention global peace in Malaysia. The Perdana Global Peace Organisation of which Tun is the patron in 2007 rectified the Kuala Lumpur Initiative to Criminalize War which today still is roping in its benefits. But why Tun Mahathir? Simply because TAYMUN believes Tun Mahathir is the only man who has the charisma, charm, credibility and weight to make the most important and difficult change, the change in our attitude and mind towards peace. TAYMUN also picked Tun because we believe he is the only one vocal enough to give us a true unbiased wake up call. In a problem as a crumbling of global peace, TAYMUN believes the problem deserves nothing less.
