It certainly comes as no surprise that Taylor's was recently honoured with the Brand Excellence Award, at the Industry Excellence Awards 2008.


The event was organised by Ministry of International Trade & Industry Malaysia (MITI), whereby the accomplished leaders of industry are acknowledged on a yearly basis. Taylor's has continuously provided excellent services for its students, in terms of diverse study options, relevant curriculum and teaching methods, ongoing partnerships with leading universities worldwide, strong industry linkages, up-to-date facilities and well-equipped campuses. The award was certainly a feather in the hat for Taylor's, and reinforced its already strong presence in the education industry.

Taylor's has taken on the mantle of developing the nation's youth into well-rounded, competitive and resilient human capital, contributing towards the development of Malaysia's economic growth and prosperity. Comprising Taylor's University College and Taylor's College, the educational institution has scaled great heights, and is today recognised as a leading brand in education not only in Malaysia, but also abroad.

Said YB Tan Sri Dato' Muhyiddin Mohd Yassin, Minister of International Trade & Industry (MITI) Malaysia at the award ceremony, "The Industry Excellence Award is the highest recognition by the Government of Malaysia to companies for their exceptional achievements in organizational excellence, distinctive branding, quality improvements and export excellence. It signified achievements, prestige and pride to the winners."

Professor Dato' Dr Hassan Said, Vice Chancellor and President of Taylor's University College and Mr Ooi Chee Kok, President of Taylor's College gracefully received the award on behalf of the institution from The Honourable Prime Minister of Malaysia, YAB Dato' Seri Abdullah Haji Ahmad Badawi.


Taylor's "Brand Excellence Award (Services)" came under Category II which is for local companies with annual sales turnover of RM10 million and above. The Technical Committee found Taylor's to have demonstrated excellence in branding strategy & marketing plan, recognition received, utilisation of professional personnel, export market for brand name and export/sales performance. Professor Dato' Dr. Hassan Said, VC of Taylor's said "It is certainly an honour to receive this award from MITI and to be recognised as a leader of the industry and a brand that stands out above the rest. We at Taylor's have always believed in paving the way for the industry, and will continue to set high standards and improve upon them for as far as education is concerned, for many more years to come."

Taylor's mission of empowering the youth through education is evident through its 57,000-strong alumni who have proudly graduated to join the ranks of Malaysians who have made a mark in their chosen fields. This is made possible through their Taylor's Graduate Capabilities (TGC) initiative, which is in line with a worldwide drive to revamp university level education as a result of the trend towards privatisation and globalisation.

The student-centred curricula prepares students for life "in the real world", as well as producing globally-competitive graduates who are equipped to compete at an international level. Now into its 40th year, Taylor's marks a long history of education excellence and reputation. Plans for the future include expanding and extending its scope of both teaching faculties as well as facilities in order to provide students with a quality well-rounded education. One such initiative is the RM450 million Taylor's Lakeside Campus to meet the needs of students and in line with the nation's goal of becoming a regional center of education excellence. Set on 27 acres of tropical greenery, the new campus will house all existing tertiary programmes currently located at Taylor's various campuses in Subang Jaya and Petaling Jaya.
