Overview

“Chemical and process engineering will be at the forefront of tackling many of the world’s tough challenges”. This statement is quoted from Chemical Engineering Matters, a report produced by the Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE) reviewing the Institution’s technical strategy. Four aspects necessary for a quality life, i.e. energy, food and nutrition, health and wellbeing, and water, are identified as the key challenge areas in which chemical engineers have a prominent role to play. The American National Academy for Engineering (NAE), on the other hand, identified 14 Grand Challenges of the human race in the 21st century, the majority of which require the great involvement of chemical engineers.

Taylor’s University realises its significant responsibility to the community and society in addressing the demands of the 21st century global evolution. As the first and only Malaysian University that has, thus far, been accepted into the Grand Challenges Scholar Programme, Taylor’s University, with great pleasure, is proud to gather the great minds of academicians, practicing engineers and students especially from the Asian Region together in this international conference to address the challenges of Chemical Engineers in the 21st century. The theme for this symposium is “Addressing the Grand Challenges of Chemical Engineers in the 21st Century”.
